Why do you think Chief Justice John Marshall is deserving of the title “The Great Chief Justice”?
Thursday, December 18th, 2008 | History | 1 Comment
Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote that “…if American law were to be represented by a single figure, skeptic and worshiper alike would agree without dispute that the figure could be but one alone, and that one John Marshall. Chief Justice Burger has said that “… when we speak of ‘The Great Chief Justice’ we mean Marshal.”
Please explain the significance of Marshall’s influence on our country.
I know John Marshall had 1127 decisions but had only 7 loses during his time as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. One of the most famous cases was Marbury v. Madison.
Could anyone help me think of other facts and ideas? Thank you.

Given Misbah Rana is a British citizen but wants to stay in Pakistan should we pay for a court case?
Sunday, December 14th, 2008 | Other - Cultures & Groups | 1 Comment
There are hearings in the Pakistan Guardian Court, the High Court and the Supreme Court over whom she should be brought up with.
Last week a Judge ruled that she should be returned to her Mother as her Father was not a permanent resident in Pakistan, he ruled that Misbah was brought into Pakistan illegally. We can all see in the media coverage of how upset she is at being brought back to Britain, and states she will run away if she is returned, I feel a teeny bit sorry for her Mother but you should watch who you jump into bed with,.stick to your own culture and religion unless of course you are prepared to live as a muslim.
Do you think her father will get a big fat dowry for her now that she is famous although a bit old at twelve for marriage in Pakistan
HELP! Accounting Question ?
Sunday, December 14th, 2008 | Other - Business & Finance | 2 Comments
When faced with lawsuits, many companies recognize a loss and therefore credit a liability or reserve account for any future losses that may result. For instance, in the famous WORLDCOM case, Citibank, the world’s largest financial services firm, announced that it was setting up reserves or liabilities of $5.6 billion in connection with pending lawsuits related to its relationship with WorldCom. Are these lawsuits contingent liabilities? Using the two criteria established by the FASB for recording a contingency, what conditions must exist for Citibank to record these lawsuits when they have not yet been heard in court?
